The GIDS is for children and young people and their families, who experience difficulties in the development of their gender identity. Its a national specialised service, based in London and Leeds, and is the only one of its kind in Great Britain

Trans and non-binary people’s general health needs are the same as anyone else’s. But trans people may have specific health needs in relation to gender dysphoria.

Gender Identity Clinic

We are a multi-disciplinary team, including psychologists, psychiatrists, endocrinologists, speech and language therapists, and nurses. We work together to provide holistic gender care, focusing on the biological/medical, psychological and social aspects of gender.


Mermaids has been supporting transgender nonbinary and gender-diverse children, young people and their families since 1995.

The Beaumont Trust’s objectives are as follows:

  1. To assist Medical and other support organisations working in the delivery of care to those affected by Gender Dysphoria by providing thoughtful leadership, research, and information.
  2. To educate and inform the general public and professional organisations about Transgender issues, care, support, equality, and integration.
